Dear Engels,

Since Meyer (R.) announced a visit to me, and on the other hand at the same time wrote that I should let him know, i.e. telegraph him, “do not come”, if I were otherwise engaged, I have firstly? telegraphed him in the “negative” sense, but secondly sent a letter after it!*, to this effect, that in consequence of Mrs. Marx’s bad health my whole time is taken up “presently”?. I am telling you this so that, if he should speak to you of the matter, you know where Barthel gets the must. In fact my wife is only very slowly improving*, hence by no means anxious to see Meyer here.

Jennychen today took her first 15-minute walk on foot!}; she is making favourable progress.
