Dear Fred,

I wrote today at once to little Wilhelm in keeping with your views. I added that it would be good to set the price, even if only by a minimum, above the costs, so that this surplus is laid out in payment of individual cards of membership! (1 d. each). As a result of the resolutions of Lausanne! and Brussels "75! representatives cannot be admitted to the Congress %! if their constituents? have not contributed to the imperial tax.

In the *Zukunft* what pleased me most was the decision of the supreme tribunal on the freedom of assembly of Prussian subjects. This beats the French courts hollow. This lousy Kirchmann with his lousy reviewer is good and successful too. The same Kirchmann some years ago proved the immortality of the soul.!??! At any rate his works are not immortal.

The enclosed letter?! shows the prevailing mood about the Barmen-Elberfeld day among the workers of the Rhine Province. Schweitzer has forgotten that Robespierre only refused to answer charges when he was sure of his cause or could answer with the guillotine. But the Corruptible* should not take the Incorruptible? as a model at all.

Salut.

Yours,
K. M.
