I 18 May 1855.
28, Deanstreet, Soho.
Dear Engels,

Since yesterday evening my wife has been confined to bed. As I cannot draw a bill before next Tuesday week, I would be very glad if you could send me some money, even just a minimum.

The Tribune can go to the devil. It is now, however, absolutely necessary that it comes out anti-Pan-Slavist. If not, one might be forced to break with the little rag, which would be fatal.

You will have seen in an earlier number of the Augsburger Allgemeinen that the great Herzen will be publishing a Russian journal here from next August onwards: Der Nordstern.

Give my best wishes to Lupus.

Yours,
K M
