London, 27 June 1854

Dear Engels,

I should be glad if you write to Dronke at once. Even if I can obtain a postponement for the later deadlines, it will be difficult, indeed impossible for the first deadline, which is at the end of this month. At most 8–10 days, by writing to the friend that my bill has not yet arrived.

I am writing only these few lines because I am up to my neck in article manufacture. I could not write earlier, on account of the troubles, running to and fro, etc., caused by the emigration of the family to Seiler’s.

Yours,
