Dear Mohr,

You will understand that after the heavy payments of last month it is impossible for me to raise £25 for you now. I have postponed all heavy payments on my own account (landlady & quarterly bill) till August, and on top of that I have had to give Borkheim an order for the bill of exchange, which I must also pay in August. I will see what can be done by tomorrow. I still owe Lupus the £10 as well, and he will demand it as soon as he returns, which may happen any day. Add that up together with last month’s payments, and you will see that a nice hole is being shot into the new balance year. However, I shall see this evening how much I shall have to pay, and therefore how much I can send you.

If only I knew how the balance has turned out and how I stand! But Charles leaves for Warsaw the day after tomorrow, where we have run up a bad debt, and the whole business will be at a standstill again.

Your F. E.
