|3 Jan. 1861.
Dear Frederick,

I have mislaid your letter of this morning, and therefore cannot remember how much sending the “Enthüllungen” to Petsch would cost. A part of them which I had in stock I have already given to him last week.

Siebel has written. He had just returned to Elberfeld from his Paris honeymoon. Has distributed the 6 copies, ordered 6 new ones. It would be good if you gave him some instructions as to how to announce it.

Toby has emitted a long cry of pain in the “Freischütz”.

The most disgusting misprint (not noted) in “Herr Vogt” was 3 or 4 times “Nationalrath” instead of “Ständerath”. I have had this explicitly corrected through Petsch in the “Genfer Grenzpost”.

The death of the King of Prussia comes very conveniently. Qu’en dites-vous?

My wife daily better, though still very weak. On Saturday I emptied the last medicine bottle.

Borchard must still be given a good roasting.

The whole family sends you their warmest greetings and best New Year’s wishes. My letter so short because my brother-in-law and sister are here. They leave tomorrow for the Cap der guten Hoffnung.
