The Mendacity of German Diplomacy

Denmark. * Copenhagen, 19 September. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has declared, in a circular to all Danish envoys abroad for further official communication: that “there was neither talk of modifications of the armistice, nor was a proposal made by either one side or the other, nor was any consent given.” With this, the mendacity of German diplomacy is once again demonstrated in the most striking manner. Relying on the shameful weakness and treachery which have been shown by the representatives of the German nation, the Danish minister steps forth in this circular more impudently and threateningly against Germany than the gentlemen in Frankfurt might ever have expected earlier. The official newspaper reports the new appointments for the administration in the duchies and “Fädrelandet” declares that Count Moltke is by no means given up. Germany must not deviate by a hair’s breadth from the conditions.
