Retreat of the Federal Troops (Schleswig-Holstein)

seems to be taking a strange turn. The *Weser-Zeitung* reports that Prussia has accepted the following armistice terms, proposed by England and endorsed by Russia: The federal troops evacuate Jutland and North Schleswig and withdraw as far as the area of Flensburg. The Danes evacuate Alsen and return all captured ships. North Schleswig is to be occupied by Schleswig-Holstein troops and will itself decide whether it wishes to become German or Danish. If Denmark does not ratify, the German troops will advance again. According to the *Schleswig-Holsteinische Zeitung*, the whole withdrawal once again arises from squabbles among German cabinets, each of which is said to have negotiated on its own again. Oh united Germany! – On 26 May an engagement took place near Sundewitt, in which the Danes appear to have had the advantage.
