Dear Dr Kraus (Kranz?),

I had completely forgotten that today is Good Friday: with my daughter Eleanor I therefore found the Café Royal closed at 12 o’clock, waited until 1 o’clock, and since I did not see you arrive, we [drove?] to your hotel. Be so kind as to write to me still today – so that I have an answer tomorrow – whether you can do us the honour of dining with us only on Sunday at 5 o’clock (not 2).

With best regards from Miss Eleanor.

Yours,
Karl Marx
