[On the Arrest of the Members of the Brunswick Committee]

From the English.

[“The Pall Mall Gazette” No. 1744, 15 September 1870]

The Committee of the German Section of the International Working Men’s Association, with its seat in Brunswick |Committee of the Social-Democratic Workers’ Party|, issued on the 5th of this month a manifesto to the German working class, in which the latter is called upon to prevent the annexation of Alsace and Lorraine and to contribute to an honourable peace with the French Republic. By order of the commanding general Vogel von Falckenstein, not only has this manifesto been confiscated, but all the members of the Committee, even the pitiable printer of the document, have been arrested and taken in chains, like common criminals, to Lützen in East Prussia.
