London. 14 Sept. 1868.

Dear Jung,

Today’s *Times* carries Eccarius’s reports of the 9th and 10th. In the debate on machinery he makes a botch of Lessner’s speech, which was much better in the *Daily News*. Lessner had cited my book, as you have seen from the *Daily News*. Eccarius suppresses the citation. But it gets even better. In the *Daily News* the resolution on machinery etc. was designated as a proposal of the General Council. In the *Times* Mr Eccarius transforms it into his personal proposal. There is a point on which you must tackle him. His egoism needs a puff to set him right again.
