21 Feb. 1867. Dear Engels, I have put off writing from day to day, but time is pressing. I have an execution in the house on Saturday (the day after tomorrow) by a grocer, if I do not pay him at least £5. I had extra expenses, 1) £2 for champagne (small bottle), as this course of treatment was prescribed for Laura, and 2) ditto for the gymnastics school, where I again had to send her on medical advice and where prepayment was required. The work will soon be finished, and would be today, had I not been too much rushed about of late. From the enclosed note which Dr. Kugelmann sent me (and which is disagreeable to me in view of my intended journey) you will see Stieber’s hand. Yours, K. M.
