From the Theatre of War

With great astonishment we read in the Serb. Belgrader Zeitung a correspondence from Constantinople, in which it is recounted that the Austrian Internuncio, Count Stürmer, on 7 Feb. had held a conference with the Porte’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and asked him: ‘What position does the Porte intend to adopt if the Austrian Slavs should rise up against the Imperial government?’ The answer was that the Porte would remain neutral, but in us the question arouses far more manifold thoughts than the answer. Might the Russian troop concentrations in the Danubian Principalities also be connected with a similar question from the K. K. government?
