The Organ of Manteuffel and Johannes –

The Rhine Province and the King of Prussia

Cologne.
The *Neue Preußische Zeitung* confirms the remark by Manteuffel concerning the Frankfurt Central Authority and Assembly which we have already reported <see “Manteuffel and the Central Authority”>. The organ of Manteuffel says:

“The proclamation of the Imperial Regent may be very well meant. But we Prussians must decidedly reject it, the people no less than the Crown.”

The organ of Manteuffel speaks straight from our heart.

The same official journal instructs us on the validity of the Frankfurt decisions as follows:

“We Prussians have no other master than our King. And only what he approves among the Frankfurt decisions, only that will bind us, because He” (Prussian style) “approves it, and for no other reason.”

We “Prussians”!!! We Rhinelanders have the good fortune to have gained, at the great trafficking in human beings in Vienna, a “Grand Duke” of the Lower Rhine, who has not fulfilled the conditions under which he became “Grand Duke”. A “King of Prussia” exists for us only through the Berlin National Assembly, and since for our “Grand Duke” of the Lower Rhine no Berlin National Assembly exists, no “King of Prussia” exists for us. We have fallen to the Grand Duke of the Lower Rhine through the trafficking in peoples! As soon as we are far enough advanced no longer to recognise the selling of souls, we shall ask the “Grand Duke of the Lower Rhine” for his “title of possession”.
