[2] Part one of this piece was written on a report submitted by Mao Yuanxin to Mao Zedong on April 13, 1976. The report stated that the Political Bureau meeting on the evening of the twelfth had studied eight matters, the third of which was that the Beijing Municipal Party Committee's report on the Tian'anmen Incident was being prepared for nationwide circulation, and that the report "is to be further revised and enriched; in addition to introducing Beijing's experience, some of the criminal evidence from this incident is to be selected and attached as photocopies, so that cadres nationwide will be clearer about the nature of the Tian'anmen Incident." Beneath this passage in quotation marks, Mao Zedong drew a horizontal line and wrote a directive, which is part two of this piece. For the Tian'anmen Incident, see note [1] on p. 533 of this volume.
