Items one, two, and three of this article are the three sentences written by Mao Zedong on the evening of April 30, 1976, during a conversation with Hua Guofeng, First Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council.
These three sentences were quoted in boldface in the December 17, 1976, *People's Daily* editorial, "A Frenzied Leap Before Extinction--Exposing the 'Gang of Four's' Forged Conspiracy." Item four of this article is a sentence written by Mao Zedong on June 25, 1976, at 3 p.m. during a conversation with Hua Guofeng.
