Comrade Deng Xiaoping, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the State Council, wrote a report to Mao Zedong on January 8, 1976, stating that the Political Bureau had specially discussed the funeral matters of Comrade Enlai and had drafted:
(1) A request for instructions report;
(2) An obituary notice;
(3) A list of the funeral committee members. These are now submitted for review and approval. Mao Zedong’s written instruction is inscribed on Deng Xiaoping’s report.
