(November 13, 1975)
In the past, only Henan had managed to get in touch with 80% of the county party secretaries, which is why it remained unscathed. For most others, the situation was more complicated. Like the inhabitants of Peach Blossom Land, they were unaware even of the Han dynasty, let alone the Wei and Jin periods. One must take this into account. A number of veteran comrades also needed to be informed; for instance, Zhou Rongxin, Li Chang, Hu Yaobang, Hu[2], Liu Bing, Li Jingquan, and several dozen others should likewise be notified.

Zhou Rongxin was then Minister of Education. Li Chang served as Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences at the time. Hu Yaobang headed the Party Core Group of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

As stated in the original text. According to Mao Zedong’s liaison officer Mao Yuanshin’s record dated November 13, 1975, “Hu” refers to Hu Qiaomu, the principal leader of the State Council’s Political Research Office.

Liu Bing was then Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Deputy Director of the Revolutionary Committee at Tsinghua University. Li Jingquan had formerly been First Secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s Southwest Bureau and was at that time a member of the CPC Central Committee.
