After calling for Wang, please forward this to Comrades Jianying, Xiaoping, and Chunqiao [3] for their review. He is currently in Wuhu; please consider whether a post could be arranged for him within the Nanjing Military Region.

This note was written on Issue No. 663 of the “Summary of Letters Received,” compiled and printed by the Petition Office of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee on October 27, 1975. That issue reported that Wang Enmao, former vice chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional People’s Committee and former first political commissar of the Xinjiang Military Region, had written to Mao Zedong on October 19, stating that he had not seen the Chairman for many years and missed him greatly. On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the Red Army’s Long March victory, he extended his greetings to the Chairman. The letter also noted that he had been working in the military since the Red Army days and possessed some experience in military affairs. At 62 years of age, he was still relatively young and capable of serving at the front lines if necessary, expressing his desire to return to the military to resume work. Shortly after Mao Zedong’s endorsement, Wang Enmao was appointed deputy political commissar of the Nanjing Military Region of the People’s Liberation Army.
