Comments on Hua Luogeng’s Letter
(October 5, 1975)
Return to Comrade Hua Luogeng.
The sentiment is very good [2]. Having just recovered from a serious illness, it would be advisable to take an extended period of rest; it would be more appropriate to go again after fully regaining one’s health.

Notes
[1] These comments were written on a letter dated October 1, 1975, from two of the children of the renowned mathematician Hua Luogeng to Mao Zedong. The letter stated: “This is a letter from our father to you, written while he was ill in bed. Because of his condition, it is rather hastily penned, so he asked us to copy it out neatly and present it to you, attaching the original as well.”
[2] In his letter to Mao Zedong dated October 1, 1975, Hua Luogeng mainly discussed the progress in promoting the methods of systems engineering and optimization, as well as his own health.
