(May 17, 1975)

Let us appreciate this strange article together, and analyze the doubtful points in it.
He Cheng is not guilty, and of course should be assigned work. All past slanders and untrue statements should be overturned.
Print and distribute to the comrades of the Central Committee.

On March 22, 1975, He Lirong, daughter of He Cheng, former President of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, wrote a letter to Deng Xiaoping, Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, requesting that her father be assigned work. The first and second parts of this piece are Mao Zedong's written instructions on the May 16, 1975 request for instructions report and its attachments from the Military Commission of the CPC Central Committee, which recommended that He Cheng be appointed Deputy Director of the General Logistics Department. The General Office of the CPC Central Committee once printed and distributed Mao Zedong's written instructions and the attachments as Document No. 144 of 1975. On June 12, when Wang Hongwen (then Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Committee) reported to Mao Zedong on the Central Political Bureau's discussion of this issue, he wrote that He Cheng had already been assigned work, and regarding Fu Lianzhang, the Party Committee of the General Logistics Department was instructed to produce a report for his rehabilitation.

Fu Lianzhang [I] was persecuted to death, and should be urgently exonerated.
He Cheng fortunately survived, Fu is already in the earth. Alas, how sorrowful!
