Mao Zedong
January 1974
[1] Da Teng Gorge is located on the lower reaches of the Qian River, about 8 kilometers northwest of the urban area of Guiping. It is the largest and longest gorge in Guangxi. In 1974, Mao Zedong, who was highly knowledgeable about the history of Chinese peasant uprisings, inquired in detail about the conditions of Da Teng Gorge and personally wrote the three characters "Da Teng Gorge."
