Telegrams of Congratulations from Mao Zedong et al. on the Eleventh Anniversary of the Founding of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam
(December 19, 1971)
To South Vietnam,
The Presidium of the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam,
Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho;
and to the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam,
Chairman Huynh Tan Phat:

On the occasion of the eleventh anniversary of the founding of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, on behalf of the Chinese people, the Communist Party of China, and the Chinese government, we extend, with fraternal and sincere feelings, our warmest congratulations to the heroic people of South Vietnam who are fighting on the front lines against U.S. aggression.

Since its establishment, the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam has held high the banner of resisting U.S. aggression and saving the country, leading the people of South Vietnam in a courageous, tenacious, and arduous struggle against the U.S. aggressors and their lackeys. This struggle has yielded countless brilliant victories and written a magnificent chapter in the annals of people’s war. Your fight has greatly inspired and supported all oppressed nations and peoples throughout the world, accumulated rich experience in the struggle against imperialism, and set a shining example.

Today, the Vietnamese people have achieved great victories on military, political, and diplomatic fronts. The U.S. aggressors and their lackeys are now mired in numerous contradictions and a profound crisis. The “Nixon Doctrine”[1] and the “Vietnamization” plan pursued by U.S. imperialism are already failing and will inevitably be completely defeated. As the Vietnamese people strengthen their solidarity with the brotherly Lao and Cambodian peoples and fight side by side, they will surely “drive out U.S. imperialism, overthrow the puppet regime,” liberate the South, defend the North, and ultimately realize the great goal of peacefully reunifying the motherland.

The Chinese people have always regarded the struggle of the Vietnamese people and those of other Indochinese countries as their own struggle, and have considered it their due internationalist duty to support the Vietnamese people and the peoples of Indochina in their war of resistance against U.S. aggression and for national salvation. So long as U.S. imperialism does not cease its aggression, and so long as the national aspirations of the Vietnamese people and the peoples of Indochina remain unfulfilled, the Chinese people will continue to provide full support for your struggle until complete victory is achieved.
