[1] Qiao Guanhua, head of the delegation of the People's Republic of China to the 26th
session of the United Nations General Assembly, delivered a written speech upon his arrival
at New York International Airport on November 1, 1971, stating that the Chinese
government has consistently advocated establishing and developing normal relations with
other countries on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence; and has
consistently supported the just struggle of oppressed peoples and ethnic minorities for
freedom and liberation, against foreign interference, and to take control of their own
destiny. Our delegation will follow the established policy of our government and work
together with representatives of all peace-loving and justice-loving countries in the United
Nations to safeguard international peace and promote the cause of human progress. This
speech was published in the People's Daily on November 12, 1971.
