(October 1970)
That’s fine; let us arrange for him to discuss the international situation at greater length.
[1] This note was written on a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 12, 1973, for arrangements regarding Mao Zedong’s meeting with Edgar Snow. In his cover letter, Zhou Enlai stated: “It is suggested that the Chairman receive Mr. Snow within the next few days. Mr. Snow was originally scheduled to leave on October 15; if the Chairman agrees to the meeting in the near future, their departure may be postponed. As to which day the Chairman will receive him, whether his wife should attend, who will accompany them, and whether photographs may be taken, all these matters should be decided by the Chairman, who will then inform us.” The meeting between Mao Zedong and Edgar Snow was ultimately arranged for December 18, 1970.
