[In this request, it is mentioned that the “Communist Unity Movement of the Netherlands (Marxist–Leninist)” claims to uphold Mao Zedong Thought, yet it is influenced by various trends of thought such as anarchism, Castroism, and Marcuseanism.]

With regard to all foreign comrades, we do not require them to endorse Chinese ideology; what we do demand is that they recognize the universal truths of Marxism-Leninism as applied to the specific conditions of their own national revolutions. This is a fundamental principle. I have stated this many times. As for the fact that, in addition to Marxism-Leninism, they may also harbor certain undesirable ideas, they will eventually come to realize this themselves. We need not treat this as a serious issue when discussing with our foreign colleagues. It is sufficient to consider the history of our own Party: only after being educated through numerous erroneous lines did we gradually move onto the correct path, and even today problems persist—namely, both domestically and internationally—such as Great-Power Chauvinism, which must be overcome.
