Telegram Congratulating the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on the 22nd Anniversary of Its Founding
(September 8, 1970)

Pyongyang

To Comrade Kim Il Sung, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Korean Workers' Party and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea,
To Comrade Choe Yong-gon, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea:

On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, we, on behalf of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Government, and the Chinese people, extend our warmest congratulations to the Korean Workers' Party, the Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and the fraternal Korean people.

The founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a great achievement of the long revolutionary struggle of the Korean people. Over the past 22 years, the heroic Korean people, under the leadership of the Korean Workers' Party headed by Comrade Kim Il Sung, have traversed a glorious course. During the three-year Fatherland Liberation War of Korea against US imperialist aggression, the Korean people, fearing no brute force and fighting valiantly, defeated the US aggressors, thereby not only defending the independence and security of their own motherland but also making significant contributions to the world people's cause of anti-imperialist revolutionary struggle. In the struggle to build socialism, the Korean people, relying on their own efforts, working hard and fighting amid hardships, and with a strong revolutionary will, have achieved tremendous successes. The Chinese people are sincerely happy about all the achievements of the fraternal Korean people. We wholeheartedly wish the Korean people continuously greater successes in their future revolutionary and construction endeavors.

The current world revolutionary situation is excellent, and a new upsurge of the struggle against US imperialism is rising. In order to extricate itself from its domestic and external difficulties, US imperialism is stepping up its collusion with Japanese militarism and frantically pushing its policies of aggression and war. The revival of Japanese militarism poses a serious threat to the Chinese people, the Korean people, the three peoples of Indochina, and the peoples of Southeast Asia and other Asian countries. In the face of a formidable enemy, it is of great significance to continuously strengthen the close unity between the Chinese and Korean peoples, among the three peoples of Indochina, and among the peoples of the various Asian countries. The force of this revolutionary unity is invincible and is a reliable guarantee for defeating the aggressive schemes of US imperialism and Japanese militarism.

The Chinese people have always greatly cherished the great friendship and militant unity established and developed with the fraternal Korean people in the long struggle against the common enemy, and will, as always, continue to make efforts to further consolidate and strengthen this friendship and unity. The Chinese people resolutely support the Korean people's just struggle against US imperialist aggression and for the reunification of their motherland. If the US and Japanese reactionaries dare to launch a new war of aggression against Korea, the Chinese people will resolutely support the Korean people in striking at the aggressors until complete victory is won.

Long live the great friendship and militant unity sealed in blood between the Chinese and Korean peoples!
