Bucharest
General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party Chairman of the Council of State of the
Socialist Republic of Romania, Comrade Nicolae Ceausescu;
Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Romania, Comrade Ion
Gheorghe Maurer:
On the 26th anniversary of Romania's liberation, we, on behalf of the Communist Party of
China, the Chinese government, and the Chinese people, extend warm congratulations to
the Romanian Communist Party, the Romanian government, and the Romanian people.
Twenty-six years ago, under the leadership of the Romanian Communist Party, the Romanian
people launched the glorious August 23rd armed uprising, overthrew the reactionary rule of
Antonescu, and made their own contribution to the anti-fascist struggle. Since liberation, the
hardworking and courageous Romanian people have upheld independence and self-reliance,
achieving tremendous success in building their homeland. Undeterred by violence, the
Romanian people resolutely opposed foreign control, interference, and threats of
aggression, heroically defending national independence and sovereignty. Not long ago,
Romania suffered unprecedentedly severe floods. The people of all ethnic groups in
Romania united in a tenacious struggle, overcame numerous difficulties, and achieved a
significant victory in flood control and disaster relief. The Chinese people are deeply pleased
with the victories achieved by the brotherly Romanian people in building and defending
their homeland, and sincerely wish the Romanian people new and greater achievements in
the future.
Throughout their long revolutionary struggles, the Chinese and Romanian peoples have
consistently sympathized with and supported each other, forging a profound friendship
based on Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism. We are pleased to see that in
recent years, the friendly and cooperative relations between our two parties and two
countries have been increasingly strengthened and developed. The Chinese people will, as
always, firmly support the just struggle of the Romanian people.
Long live the unbreakable friendship between the Chinese and Romanian peoples!
Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China
Lin Biao, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China
Zhou Enlai, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China
