Mao Zedong
June 26
Return to Comrade Dongxing [2] for keeping.

[1] On June 26, 1970, Zhou Enlai instructed Wang Dongxing to write a letter requesting that
he submit to Mao Zedong for review a revised transcript of Mao Zedong's June 26, 1965,
conversation on medical and health work. The main points of the revised transcript
included: "Medical education must be reformed," "The current hospital examination and
treatment methods are completely unsuitable for rural areas," "The focus of medical and
health care should be placed in rural areas," and that medical and health institutions "should
allocate significant human and material resources to addressing the most pressing issues
facing the people," and "Doctors and nurses should participate in the Four Cleanups
Movement."
[2] Dongxing, namely Wang Dongxing, was then an alternate member of the Political Bureau
of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central
Committee.
