[1] On April 11, 1970, Lin Biao, vice chairman of the CPC Central Committee, proposed to
establish the position of president and said that Mao Zedong should serve as president
again. On April 12, the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau reported Lin Biao's opinion to
Mao Zedong for instructions, and Mao Zedong wrote this comment. On December 11, 1971,
the CPC Central Committee forwarded the "Struggle to Smash the Counter-Revolutionary
Coup of the Lin and Chen Anti-Party Group (Material 1)" compiled by the Central Special
Case Group, which quoted Mao Zedong's comments. When Mao Zedong reviewed the
material forwarded by the Central Committee, he wrote: "Send it as is."
