[1] Lin Biao was re-elected to the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC
Central Committee at the 11th Plenary Session of the 8th CPC Central Committee and was
soon named Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Committee.
[2] This is part of a conversation between Mao Zedong and Lin Biao, Zhou Enlai, Chen Boda
(then a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central
Committee and head of the Central Cultural Revolution Group), Kang Sheng (then a member
of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and advisor
to the Central Cultural Revolution Group), and Xie Fuzhi (then an alternate member of the
Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Beijing Municipal
Revolutionary Committee) on May 11, 1968. This passage was quoted in boldface in the June
2 People's Daily and Liberation Army Daily editorial, "Seventy Million Sichuan People March
Forward—Warmly Acclaim the Establishment of the Sichuan Provincial Revolutionary
Committee."
