[1] Yao Wenyuan was then a member of the Cultural Revolution Group of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
[2] Refers to the Xinhua News Agency press release and the editorial draft for *People’s Daily* and *Liberation Army Daily* titled "The Red Flag of Jinggangshan Flies for Ten Thousand Generations — Warmly Hail the Establishment of the Jiangxi Provincial Revolutionary Committee," submitted by Yao Wenyuan for review on January 6, 1968. Both pieces were published in *People’s Daily* and *Liberation Army Daily* on January 7.
[3] In the Xinhua News Agency press release, Mao Zedong deleted the sentence: "Every word of Chairman Mao is truth, and one word is worth ten thousand." In the editorial draft for *People’s Daily* and *Liberation Army Daily*, Mao Zedong deleted the sentence: "Chairman Mao’s words are of the highest level, the most powerful, every word is truth, and one word is worth ten thousand," and removed the two characters "step by step" from the sentence "They closely follow Chairman Mao’s great strategic deployment step by step."
