Directive on the Great Alliance
(August 1967)

The greatest movement must have the greatest alliance. To criticize and denounce China’s Khrushchev thoroughly is a major issue bearing on the future of China’s destiny and the future of the world’s destiny. We must therefore unite in the broadest possible way. Every revolutionary organization and its leading members must give this their full ideological attention and seek a great alliance in the course of the great criticism. Otherwise, it will be to the sorrow of those dear to us and the joy of our enemies.

The phenomenon of revolutionary factions attacking each other while Liu Shaoqi sits on the mountain watching the tigers fight can no longer be allowed to continue.
