Send to Comrade Tao Zhu for consideration and handling[2]. This person is not a person in authority, nor has he committed major crimes; it seems he should be given protection.

Doctor Fu:
All the items sent before and after have been seen. The issue of political arrangements is the same for many people; it cannot be discussed yet, let's talk about it in the future.

December 28
One must have an analysis of one's own life, do not only see the merits and not see the shortcomings.

Notes

[1] Part one of this piece is a comment on the letter of August 28, 1966, from Fu Lianzhang, a Standing Committee member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice Minister of Health. In the letter, Fu Lianzhang reported to Mao Zedong that during the Cultural Revolution he had been labeled with the hat of an "anti-Party, anti-socialist black gang element" and requested protection. Part two of this piece is a comment on Fu Lianzhang's letter of December 12. In this letter, Fu Lianzhang mentioned that since the struggle against him began, all his political treatment (including the treatment for a Standing Committee member of the National Committee of the CPPCC) had been canceled, he could not read documents, and he could not listen to reports.
[2] Tao Zhu was at that time a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Executive Secretary of the Central Secretariat. On September 3, 1966, after receiving Mao Zedong's instruction, he immediately instructed the person in charge of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army: "In accordance with the Chairman's instruction, give protection to Fu."
