On October 1, 1965, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Mao Zedong inscribed the masthead for *Xinjiang Daily*, which had become the organ newspaper of the autonomous region’s Party committee. This was the second time Mao Zedong inscribed the masthead for *Xinjiang Daily*.
