Telegram Congratulating the Indonesian Communist Party on Its Forty-Fifth Anniversary〔1〕(May 15 and 20, 1965) I concur. Mao Zedong, May 15, printed from the manuscript. To the Dear Comrades of the Central Committee of the Indonesian Communist Party: As the great Indonesian Communist Party celebrates the forty-fifth anniversary of its founding, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, on behalf of all members of the CPC and the Chinese people, extends its warmest congratulations to the glorious Indonesian Communist Party and, through you, pays its highest respects to the heroic Indonesian people.

The Indonesian Communist Party is a creative and combative vanguard of the proletariat, a great standard-bearer for the Indonesian people in their struggle for national independence and social liberation, a revolutionary party closely linked to the masses and deeply beloved by them, and a staunch assault force within the international communist movement—loyal to Marxism-Leninism and resolutely opposed to modern revisionism.

Over the past forty-five years, the Indonesian Communist Party has consistently held high the banner of the anti-imperialist revolution, standing at the forefront of the struggle, and has written a glorious chapter in the history of Indonesia’s anti-imperialist revolution, in the history of the revolutions of the East, and in the history of the international workers’ movement. In recent years, the Indonesian Communist Party has mobilized the broad masses, joined forces with other democratic and patriotic forces, and launched a revolutionary struggle to smash “Malaysia,” a neo-colonial creation concocted by U.S. and British imperialism. It has also firmly supported President Sukarno and the Indonesian government in their bold steps to withdraw from the United Nations, which is manipulated by U.S. imperialism, and to combat imperialist economic forces within the country. The Indonesian Communist Party and the Indonesian people have consistently backed the just anti-imperialist and patriotic struggles of peoples around the world. Most recently, they have initiated a massive campaign to aid Vietnam in its resistance against U.S. aggression. The Indonesian people’s struggle against imperialism is an important component of the common struggle of all peoples worldwide against U.S. imperialism and its lackeys.

The Indonesian Communist Party has always remained faithful to Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism, firmly opposing modern revisionism—the principal danger facing the international communist movement—while also waging an uncompromising fight against modern dogmatism. In safeguarding the purity of Marxism-Leninism, upholding the principles of independence and equality in relations among fraternal parties, and maintaining unity within the international communist movement on the basis of Marxism-Leninism, the Indonesian Communist Party has made outstanding contributions. Under the leadership of Comrade D.N. Aidit〔2〕, the Central Committee of the Indonesian Communist Party has skillfully proceeded from the realities of its own revolution, creatively applying and developing Marxism-Leninism, brilliantly indigenizing it, independently formulating a revolutionary line and policies that serve the fundamental interests of the Indonesian people, and guiding Indonesia’s revolutionary struggle ever forward to victory.

The Communist Party of China takes great pride in having such a close and steadfast comrade-in-arms as the Indonesian Communist Party. The revolutionary solidarity between our two parties and the fighting friendship between our two peoples have been tempered in the crucible of our struggle against our common enemy, have stood severe tests, and are indestructible by any force. This friendship and solidarity will surely continue to be consolidated and developed. In the struggle against imperialism, reactionary forces in various countries, and modern revisionism, we stand firmly with you, advancing side by side and fighting together.

We are convinced that the Indonesian Communist Party will further enhance its combat effectiveness, strengthen and expand the national democratic united front based on the worker-peasant alliance, unite all patriotic and progressive forces, and lead the Indonesian people’s national democratic revolution to new heights and new victories. A fully independent, democratic, prosperous, and advanced Indonesia will surely rise on the world stage.

Long live the glorious, great, and heroic Indonesian Communist Party!
