At present, the whole country is studying the People’s Liberation Army and the Daqing Model; schools are also being asked to learn from the PLA. The PLA excels because of its strong political and ideological orientation. At the same time, we should draw on the advanced examples in cities, agriculture, industry, commerce, and education across the nation.

In various sectors of the national industry, there are now efforts underway—from the ministerial level down to individual factories and mines—to emulate the PLA. This involves establishing political departments, political offices, and political instructors, and implementing the “Four Firsts” and the “Three-Eight Style.” It appears that without such measures, it would be impossible to ignite the revolutionary spirit among the millions of cadres and workers in the industrial sector (as well as in commerce and agriculture).
