These days the People’s Daily has become quite engaging. Its theoretical content has been strengthened, and there are also some interesting pieces. Today (the 20th), I read the four short articles on design discussion on Page 2, and the editor’s note was well written too. Even Chinese cabbage made the front page—very good. We should keep up the good work. The PLA Daily and the China Youth Daily occasionally publish brief, lively, thought-provoking pieces; we should learn from them.

(Note: (1) The four short articles published in the sixth installment of “Discussion on ‘Transforming Design Work with a Revolutionary Spirit’” on November 20 were “Going to the Worksite Bearing the Party’s Policies,” “Breaking Out of the Small Circle of Individualism,” “Setting Aside the Attitude of Being a Construction Supervisor and Humbly Learning from the Workers,” and “We Must Not View the Factory as Something Static and Unchanging.” The postscript, consisting of 250 characters, was titled “Where Lies the Fundamental Problem?” (2) The report on Chinese cabbage refers to the December 5, 1964, front-page article “Notes from a Vegetable Seller” and the commentary “Who Is Leading Whom?”)
