The experience of the Baiyin Nonferrous Metals Company’s struggle has demonstrated that, to run socialist enterprises well, it is first and foremost necessary to grasp class struggle firmly. Unless leadership is kept securely in the hands of proletarian revolutionaries and the revolutionary spirit of the broad masses of workers and staff is vigorously aroused, neither the struggle for production nor scientific experimentation can be carried out effectively. In tackling class struggle, we must overcome all forms of rightist thinking: we must not fear to offend “four-unclear” cadres, to challenge higher-level leaders, or to temporarily disrupt production. What is needed is revolutionary determination—to seize hold of the issue and never let go, pursuing it to the very end, and to be thoroughgoing revolutionaries. Moreover, the experience of Baiyin Nonferrous Metals Company has again shown that as long as class struggle is conducted well, thoroughly and to its core, it will not only fail to hinder production but will inevitably spur a great upsurge in the struggle for production and in scientific experimentation.

As class struggle, the struggle for production, and scientific experimentation advance, they will inevitably give rise to a series of revolutionary changes in enterprise management. Certain old slogans and targets have already become obsolete; they must be replaced by new ones. Likewise, any existing management systems—such as wage structures, labor organization, and administrative apparatus—that no longer suit the new situation must be appropriately reformed.
