Notes [1] This material, provided by the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, was published in the thirty-fourth special issue of “The Situation within the League,” compiled and printed by the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League on October 16, 1964.
It is an abstract of a self-narrative by Huang Guiyu, a senior high school graduate and member of the Communist Youth League at the Affiliated Middle School of Nanjing Normal College, reflecting her resolve to work in agriculture.
In order to participate in agricultural production, to immerse herself among the working people, and to forge herself into a revolutionary successor, she engaged in a fierce struggle with her family and ultimately prevailed, going on to join a rural youth work team in Maba Commune, Xuyi County, Jiangsu Province.
