And the Remarks on the Draft Reply [I]
(October 24, 1964)
Dear Mr. Pridi Banomyong:
Thank you for your congratulatory letter on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Four years ago, on the same festive day, I stated in my reply to your congratulatory letter: As you have pointed out, the current situation is highly favorable to the peoples of the world. Today, this favorable situation has become even more evident. The entire world is changing—changing in a way that benefits the revolutionary forces and disadvantages the counter-revolutionary ones. The peoples of the world will surely take their destinies into their own hands.
As you also noted in your letter, the peoples of colonial and semi-colonial countries have personally come to realize that the only way to liberate themselves is through resolute struggle against imperialism, with U.S. imperialism at its head, and its lackeys. I am confident that the increasingly awakened Thai people will likewise join the global anti-U.S. struggle, and that U.S. imperialism will ultimately be driven out of Thailand.
I wish you every success in your continued efforts to safeguard national independence and to promote Sino-Thai friendship. May you and your wife enjoy good health.
