Bo Da refers to Chen Boda, who at that time served as Director of the Central Committee’s Political Research Office, Deputy Minister of the Central Propaganda Department, and Mao Zedong’s secretary.

These refer to Documents Nos. 14 and 15 on literature and scholarship, compiled and printed by the Office of the CPC Central Committee’s Propaganda Department in August 1964. Their titles are “The Arguments of Comrades Yang Xianzhen et al. Denying the Identity of Thought and Existence” and “Feng Youlan Continues to Disseminate Bourgeois Educational and Idealist Ideologies,” respectively.

On August 28, 1964, Mao Zedong met with Eduardo Gajegos Mancera, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela, who was visiting China.
