[1] This critique was written on a letter from Liu Yalou, Commander of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, dated July 18, 1964, requesting Wang Dongxing, Vice Minister of Public Security and Director of the Guard Bureau of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, to forward to Mao Zedong the report on the Air Force shooting down another enemy U-2 aircraft.
[2] Refers to the report dated July 17, 1964, from Liu Yalou, Commander of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Xu Shenji, Political Commissar, and Wang Huiqiu, Deputy Commander, to Luo Ruiqing, Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, with a copy to Lin Biao, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and the Central Military Commission, on shooting down another enemy U-2 aircraft. After detailing the circumstances of the Air Force shooting down an enemy U-2 aircraft over Zhangzhou on July 7, the report summarized some new characteristics and new experiences of this battle, as well as a series of effective measures taken in close cooperation among the Party, government, military, and civilians in the military, political, and technical spheres.
