Comment on the Draft of the *Renmin Ribao* Editor’s Note[1]

The note has been reviewed and is very good. It may be broadcast today and published in tomorrow’s newspaper.

[1] This comment was written on the letter sent by Kang Sheng (alternate member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Secretariat) and Wu Lengxi (director of the Xinhua News Agency and editor-in-chief of *Renmin Ribao*) on April 25, 1964, to Mao Zedong, submitting the draft of the *Renmin Ribao* editor’s note for review. This editor’s note was written for the publication of the anti-China report “On the Struggle of the CPSU for the Unity of the International Communist Movement” adopted at the February Plenum of the Central Committee of the CPSU. This note was published in *Renmin Ribao* on both April 27 and 28, 1964. On the 27th, the full text of the anti-China report “On the Struggle of the CPSU for the Unity of the International Communist Movement” adopted at the February Plenum of the Central Committee of the CPSU, the anti-China resolution of the February Plenum of the Central Committee of the CPSU, and the anti-China editorial of the Soviet newspaper *Pravda* dated April 3 were published beneath the note. On the 28th, Khrushchev’s recent anti-China statements were published beneath the note. The *Renmin Ribao* editorial department’s note concluded with the statement: “We shall, after completing our replies to the open letter of the Central Committee of the CPSU, answer in turn all these anti-China documents, speeches, and articles released by the leadership of the CPSU, as well as all anti-China documents, speeches, and articles released before and after them.”
