Telegram from Mao Zedong et al. Congratulating Khrushchev on His Seventieth Birthday
(April 16, 1964)
Comrade Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union:
Dear Comrade, on the occasion of your seventieth birthday, we extend our warmest congratulations, wishing you good health and longevity.
The Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese people have long cherished deep fraternal ties and the highest respect for the Soviet Communists and the Soviet people, who hail from the homeland of Leninism and possess a rich revolutionary tradition. We wholeheartedly congratulate you on the magnificent achievements you have attained over the decades since the October Revolution.
The peoples of China and the Soviet Union, as two great fraternal nations, share common interests and a unified revolutionary goal. Fundamentally speaking, as long as we uphold the Marxist-Leninist position, imperialism led by the United States and various reactionary forces will never relent in their policies aimed at opposing the Soviet Union, China, the Communist Parties, revolution, and the people. We firmly believe that, driven by the aspirations of our two peoples and by the revolutionary masses worldwide, the Communist Parties of China and the Soviet Union, together with our respective governments and peoples, will inevitably unite more closely in the long run to combat imperialism and all reactionary forces, uphold Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism, safeguard the unity of the socialist camp and the international communist movement, support the revolutionary movements of oppressed peoples and nations across the globe, and defend world peace.

Telegram from Mao Zedong et al. Congratulating Khrushchev on His Seventieth Birthday
Despite the existing differences between us concerning a series of fundamental principles of Marxism-Leninism and the resulting state of disunity, we firmly believe that these are only temporary. Once a major global event occurs, the Communist Parties of China and the Soviet Union, along with our two countries and our peoples, will stand united against our common enemies.
Let imperialism and all reactionary forces tremble before our solidarity—they are bound to fail.
Long live the great friendship and brotherhood between the peoples of China and the Soviet Union!
Long live invincible Marxism-Leninism!
