The massive anti-American demonstration held by the Japanese people on January 26 was a great patriotic movement. On behalf of the Chinese people, I wish to express our highest respect to the courageous Japanese people.

Recently, a large-scale mass movement has swept across Japan, opposing the stationing of U.S. F-105D nuclear-capable aircraft and nuclear submarines in Japan; demanding the removal of all U.S. military bases and the withdrawal of U.S. armed forces; calling for the return of Okinawa, Japan’s territory; and seeking the abrogation of the Japan-U.S. “Security Treaty,” among other just demands. All of these reflect the will and aspirations of the entire Japanese people. The Chinese people wholeheartedly support the Japanese people’s just struggle.

Since the end of World War II, Japan has been subjected to sustained political, economic, and military oppression by U.S. imperialism. Not only has U.S. imperialism oppressed Japanese workers, peasants, students, intellectuals, the urban petty bourgeoisie, religious leaders, and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, but it has also controlled many of Japan’s major industrialists, interfered in Japan’s foreign policy, and treated Japan as a vassal state. U.S. imperialism is the most vicious enemy of the Japanese nation.

The Japanese nation is a great one. It will never allow U.S. imperialism to ride roughshod over it for long. Over the past several years, the patriotic united front of all sectors of Japanese society against U.S. imperialist aggression, oppression, and control has been steadily expanding. This is the most reliable guarantee of victory in the Japanese people’s anti-American patriotic struggle. The Chinese people are firmly convinced that the Japanese people will surely drive the U.S. imperialists from their homeland, and that their aspirations for independence, democracy, peace, and neutrality will certainly be realized.

The peoples of China and Japan must unite; the peoples of all Asian countries must unite; all oppressed peoples and nations throughout the world must unite; all peace-loving countries must unite; and all states and individuals subjected to U.S. imperialist aggression, domination, interference, and bullying must unite—to form a broad united front against U.S. imperialism, to thwart its plans for aggression and war, and to safeguard world peace.

Get U.S. imperialism out of Japan! Out of the Western Pacific! Out of Asia! Out of Africa and Latin America! Out of Europe and Oceania! Out of every country and region where it carries out aggression, interference, and bullying!
