Telegrams of Congratulations from Mao Zedong et al. on the Tenth Anniversary of the Signing of the Sino–Korean Agreement on Economic and Cultural Cooperation (November 22, 1963)

To Comrade Kim Il Sung, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and to Comrade Choe Yong Geon, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea:

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Sino–Korean Agreement on Economic and Cultural Cooperation, on behalf of the Chinese people, the Communist Party of China, and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, we extend our warmest congratulations to you and, through you, to the fraternal Korean people, the Workers’ Party of Korea, and the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Over the past decade, our two countries, on the basis of friendship, mutual assistance, and equality and mutual benefit, have comprehensively and rapidly developed their economic and technical cooperation, while vigorously promoting cultural exchanges. This friendly cooperative relationship rooted in proletarian internationalism has not only further strengthened the combat friendship and great unity between the Chinese and Korean peoples, forged in blood, and has promoted the common prosperity and upsurge of socialist construction in both countries, but has also made a major contribution to bolstering the strength of the socialist camp and advancing the cause of human progress.

At present, the peoples of China and Korea are engaged in selfless labor, animated by a revolutionary spirit of striving for self-improvement and relying on their own efforts, in the grand undertaking of building socialism. The two peoples stand firmly side by side, waging resolute struggle against the war and aggression policies of U.S. imperialism, in defense of peace in Asia and throughout the world; and against modern revisionism and modern dogmatism, in order to safeguard Marxism–Leninism. The Chinese people are sincerely delighted at the tremendous achievements attained by the Korean people on all fronts. We are deeply convinced that, as our common cause advances, the time-tested fraternal friendship and cooperative relations of mutual assistance between China and Korea will continue to be consolidated and strengthened.
