(September 8, 1963)
Sofia

To Comrade Todor Zhivkov, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria,
and to Comrade Dimitar Gigov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Assembly of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria:

On the occasion of the nineteenth anniversary of the socialist revolution in Bulgaria, on behalf of the Chinese people, the Communist Party of China, and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, we extend our warmest congratulations to the Bulgarian people, the Bulgarian Communist Party, and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria.

Over the past year, the fraternal Bulgarian people have engaged in diligent labor and achieved new successes in the cause of building their homeland. The Chinese people are delighted by these achievements.

There exists a profound friendship between the peoples of China and Bulgaria. The Chinese people have always been closely united with the revolutionary Bulgarian people, sharing mutual sympathy and support. The Chinese hold this friendship with the Bulgarian people in high regard. We hope that, on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism, as well as the revolutionary principles set forth in the 1957 Declaration and the 1960 Statement, the peoples of China and Bulgaria will continue to strive together to strengthen their friendship and solidarity, to consolidate the unity of the socialist camp, to oppose imperialism, and to fight for world peace, national liberation, people’s democracy, and socialism.

We wish the Bulgarian people further achievements in the socialist construction of their motherland and in the struggle to safeguard world peace. May the friendship between the peoples of China and Bulgaria endure forever.
