Telegram Greeting the 19th Anniversary of Poland's National Revival Day from Mao Zedong and Others

(July 21, 1963)

Comrade Władysław Gomułka, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party,
Comrade Aleksander Zawadzki, Chairman of the Council of State of the Polish People's Republic,
Comrade Józef Cyrankiewicz, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Polish People's Republic:

On the occasion of the 19th anniversary of Poland's National Revival Day, we extend, on behalf of the Chinese people, the Chinese Communist Party, and the Chinese Government, warm congratulations to the Polish people, the Polish United Workers' Party, and the Government of the Polish People's Republic.

Over the past nineteen years, the Polish people, under the leadership of the Polish United Workers' Party and the Polish Government, have achieved remarkable successes in socialist construction. The Chinese people rejoice at this.

There exists a profound friendship between the peoples of China and Poland. In the long revolutionary struggles and in the cause of building socialism, our two peoples have supported and assisted each other. Safeguarding and strengthening the friendship and unity of our two peoples not only conforms to the common interests of both peoples but also benefits the common struggle against imperialism and the enhancement of the strength of the socialist camp. The Chinese people will, as always, strive to strengthen the friendship and unity of the Chinese and Polish peoples on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism, and on the revolutionary principles of the 1957 Declaration and the 1960 Statement, and will work together with the Polish people for new victories in the struggle against imperialism, for world peace, national independence, people's democracy, and socialism.
