Commentary on the Summary of a Letter from Zhang Gan [1] [2] (March 24, 1963)  Please have the Central Organization Department consult with the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and handle the matter as appropriate.
The letter-writer, Zhang Gan, was my principal at the teachers’ training school forty-five years ago and is now probably over eighty years old.

Notes [ ]  Zhang Gan, courtesy name Cilun, served as principal of Hunan Provincial No. 1 Normal School when Mao Zedong was a student there. [2]  This commentary was written on a summary of a letter from Zhang Gan submitted by the Secretariat of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee.
The summary stated that Zhang Gan and his daughter Jin Zhu both require care.
He requested the Chairman’s assistance in transferring his granddaughter, Zhang Qiongying, from Shanxi back to Changsha for work.
